" The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new lands but seeing with new eyes."
-- Marcel Proust
The Masters Program in Education and Human Development with an emphasis in Educational Technology Leadership at the George Washington University ignited my desire to use research based practices to understand, predict and influence education in the 21st century. I am now pursuing my Doctorate in Education (Ed.D.), with a concentration in Teaching and Learning, at the University of California, San Diego (expected completion 2017). As I enter my second year of doctoral studies, my research interest is effective adult learner grouping in project-based activities in large-scale multicultural online learning environments.
As the Director of Online Learning at the University of California, San Diego Extension, I am fortunate to collaborate with academic directors and faculty who are equally passionate about pursuing research in the areas of teaching and learning. My interests have included gap analysis between excellent and average online andragogy, access to education, student assessment practices and the awarding of degrees.
My educational and research pursuits directly benefit my professional activities. Practical application of new knowledge has become routine, from creating new approaches to academic program development to new instructor training designed to improve online student retention; I have enjoyed collaborating with inspired professionals well-equipped to contribute to these initiatives. Life-long learning is a way of life, delivering rewards that exceed my expectations.
